A small tribute/goofy drawing in honor of The name of the rose...bot a Book and a Film I love.
I have never seen any humoristic thing made about this story...probably because it's quite dark, terrible and serious. Not to say dramatic. But I thought it would be fair to have at least one.This one!.
That scene with Sean Connery playing Brother Willam Baskerville, where the Abbey's library catches fire and his character, being a beautiful big fat bookworm , leaps from place to place within the burning rooms, catching and trying to gather as many books and scrolls as he can in order to save them...thus forgetting to care for his own skin!!!...
I can't even say how much I understood him. Imagine every book there was a treasure, unique and hand-crafted marvel...which would be forever lost, consumed into flames, it's content and knowledge lost forever!
So...let's cheer for old, wise Brother William and his "ever astonished" disciple Adso of Melk.
May they fund "The league of Extraordinary book saviors", and may it live long and well!

This is so beatiful. It warms my heart past melting point. And hats off to drawing it comically, the manic expression the precarious high pile of scrolls and books, the title... All excellent.
