Our Little Hope

This had to happen some day!...

While I was sculpting accesories and dragons for my next sale on the springtime conventions to take place this weekend, a small chunk of clay was discarded, and remained on a side of my working table.

After a while, I remembered I had not yet thrown it with the rest of the unused clay to be able to meddle it, recycle it and re-use it afterwards, so I grabbed at it and was going to squeeze it and make it join the rest of the clay lump when I noticed something weird about it's shape.

Coincidentally, the THING looked almost like the little chick of some bird...it seemed to have a head and even a bulgy closed eye...but there also was a piece of dough curled up on it's other side, which looked a lot like a coiled tail...

I swear I squeaked in cuteness when I realized it actually looked A LOT like I imagined a newborn skeksis would!!!!

I promptly carved two small arms and a leg in it's tiny body, then gave it a smile in the place where the clay had formed a big beak by itself... and left it to dry.

The paint I gave it later sealed it's aspect definitely.
Now it is officially a tiny baby skeksis.
Thinking of what a really elder, not-so-evil skeksis would say about such a thing, I informally named him by the affective nickname "Little Hope".

I hope you enjoy the strange (and true) story of how Little Hope came to be!
He brings a smile to my face every time I see him now, curled on a safe spot ofmytable, as I work along.
